Dixie has been a home birth midwife for 27 years and has assisted in the birth of over 500 babies during that time. Prior to that she has been on a quest for better health through better nutrition. Her first son was born with a cancerous tumor on his shoulder that was successfully removed when he was 3 days old. A few months later a family friend suggested that she might want to check into eating healthier because of her son and using supplements. That was the beginning of over 35 years of studying numerous health and healing systems. This included cell-electrology (Touch for Health), foot reflexology, Reike, CPR, Essential Oils Therapy & Herbology.

In addition to the numerous health related classes she has attended Leadership training seminars and has held several leadership positions including 17 years as a La Leche League Leader. She has been actively involved in other women's organizations serving in leadership roles within them.

Because of her extensive studies into health issues she has raised 7 children with only occasional trips to the doctors office for x-rays or stitches that deal with growing up as normal active children, never going for any health related issues.

She is currently teaching a six-week living foods seminar assisting people who are seeking information on the advantages of eating living foods and how to prepare the food.

She was introduced to the living food life in January of 2001. She wasn't totally convinced she wanted to take this new step. So she did what she always does. Picked up a few books and started reading. It did make sense to her but she was afraid of “all that chopping” of veggies! In the fall of that same year she attended a weekend seminar featuring David Wolfe. After listening to him speak she was convinced she needed to take this step in her life. What was she waiting for to heal and become healthier? She didn't have any particular disease, was a vegetarian, over weight and looking for something new. Plus it just made sense.

She told he husband Ted Ralph, “I am going to do this. I am going to give it a shot and see if I can do it and see how it makes me feel. You can do it with me or not. But the only food that will be fixed in this house by me will be raw food!” She wasn't in the mood to fix all sorts of meals because she knew that could potentially deter her success. There were two older children still living at home plus a grand child.

That is where it started and has continued to this day.

Dixie doesn't put herself up on a pedestal. She has no desire to be anyone’s Guru. She is just a normal human being with knowledge she wants to share with the world. She wants to help the world heal with her own twist on health and life. Her motto is, “In the beginning, reach one, teach one to heal themselves.”
Her husband says the amount of studying she has done over the years would qualify her for two PhD's in life. He helps lead the seminars they teach together
